Foresta Lodging. Cabins and vacations homes inside the gates of Yosemite National Park.
Welcome to Foresta Lodging inside Yosemite National Park. Here you can find information about lodging in Foresta. We will also try to clear up any misinformation about Foresta that is presented at Yosemite Fun . Com
Now Yosemite Fun. Com warns folks not to stay in Foresta and calls it a slum, hot, dusty with bad roads. The site says "It's at a lower elevation, and is considerably warmer than the rest of the park". This is totally untrue as Foresta is at 4,200', higher than Yosemite Valley and due to its location has wonderful afternoon cooling winds.
It seems that Yosemite fun has ties with the Yosemite West Lodging which is the main competitor to Foresta Lodging. This site hopes to show you what a beautiful quiet haven Foresta is and why you may want to stay in one of our vacation homes.
Foresta is a small community of private homes and is located inside the entrance gates of Yosemite National Park. Foresta can be seen when you are coming down Hwy 120 towards Yosemite Valley. It is about 5 miles down from Crane Flat and Foresta has a large meadow aptly named Big Meadow. The uniqueness of these homes make them very special as they are considered private inholdings. Which means that the homes in Foresta are totally surrounded by Yosemite National Park. The Foresta homes sit on property owned by the individuals and all the land adjacent is Yosemite National Park. Most Foresta lots are 50' x 100' which may seem small but with only 50 homes and the possibility of no new development this community will never be crowded. As soon as you step off the Foresta home property you are in Yosemite Park!
A huge wildfire swept through Foresta in 1990 and burned down over 50 homes. Foresta was totally devastated and it looked like the surface of the moon. Since then Foresta has made a remarkable recovery and now there are thousands of new pine trees some over 50' high.

Foresta, Big Meadow, 6/20/09
We have had such a cool and wet spring that the rivers and waterfalls have put on a great show. The Big Meadow in Foresta is the greenest with the tallest grass in years and many flowers are blooming in and around it. If you are looking for a little quiet side trip off the crowded Yosemite main street head into to Foresta for a little picnic at the historic barns.
Here is a shot of Big Meadow in Foresta on 6/20/09. The grass is almost 4' high and is a golden red.

1,000 frogs in Foresta, Yosemite 1/31/09
1 minute of very loud frogs in Yosemite. Not sure if there are really 1,000 frogs in this Yosemite pond but there are quite a few and they were very vocal. The weather has been extremely warm and this may turn out to be the driest January on record. Filmed in Foresta, Yosemite
